Alexa has become an indispensable tool in many households, offering a range of features and capabilities to make our lives easier. However, some users have reported an issue where their Alexa device randomly makes beeps, noises, or chimes without apparent reason.

There are many possible reasons why your Echo makes random noise without any real notification. It may sometimes wake up thinking that someone has tried to trigger it by saying ‘Alexa.’

Use A Different Wake Word

There are a few wake words such as “Amazon,” “Echo,” “Alexa,” or “Computer” which are used to trigger Echo devices to perform a certain type of action. Sometimes, Alexa wakes up randomly thinking that a wake word has been uttered. But, this is all illusion of Alexa.

So, we can change the wake word to make it easy for Alexa by not getting whim automatically without any real cause.

To change the wake word through the Alexa app, follow these steps:

  • Open the Alexa app and go to the devices section.
  • Select your Echo device.
  • Scroll down and find the “Wake Word” option.

  • Click “OK” to save the changes.
  • Alternatively, you can use voice commands to change the wake word:
  • Say “Alexa, change the wake word.”
  • Alexa will then prompt you to choose from the four available options.

  • Alexa will confirm the new wake word. For Example, instead of Alexa, use; Computer, “turn on Do Not Disturb.”
