Roomba not connecting to WiFi
Spread The Love

Roomba vacuums are very efficient in their cleaning work and they are designed to clean each nook and corner of the room.

Usually, vacuum cleaners robots also known as Roomba remain in the main living room and that is the most important place in the home where we sleep, eat, and spend much of our time.

Roomba can be connected with the iRobot app and you can also connect it with Alexa and automate work easily. But, sometimes, Roomba is unable to connect with your home network which stops it to clean your home because Roomba has dropped the connection with the iRobot app due to an error in the Wi-Fi connection.

13 Steps to Fix Roomba not connecting to Wi-Fi

1. The network name and password are incorrect

If there are multiple wi-fi extenders, make sure that you have accurately entered the name of the wi-fi network and password. This step is included in the first setup of your device in Eufy’s Home app where you have to put the credentials of your network.

In case of a network extender in your Wi-Fi setup, ensure that the extender’s network name (SSID) and password are also the same as your primary network.

2. Compatibility Issues (Your Phone is not connected to 2.4GHz)

Roomba devices only work on 2.4GHz and they cannot connect to 5GHz frequency which people think will help in faster downloading but it has a short-range disadvantage.

This step is included in the very first set of your device with the Eufy’s Home app. Make sure that you set the default of your network to 2.4GHz.

Most Roomba models before the 600 series are compatible with the 2.4 GHz. So, If you’re trying to connect your Roomba with the 5Ghz network, you won’t be able to do it.

So, you have to change your Wi-Fi network and convert it according to the network compatibility of your Roomba device.

3. Errors in Roomba due to Wi-Fi Error

  • Initial Wi-Fi setup Fails
  • The Wi-Fi connection disconnects and after a while it reconnects

a) Initial Wi-Fi setup Fails

If you are facing this initial setup problem, you need to separate your Master Wi-Fi router logins. One login will be a guest one.

But, your iRobot app and Roomba must be connected to the same Master Wi-Fi login. Guest login doesn’t really detect the devices, so you should connect both devices with the same login.

b) Wi-Fi connection disconnects and after a while it reconnects

Sometimes, the Roomba device works properly but suddenly it disconnects from the Wi-FI and refuses to reconnect with the Wi-Fi network. This usually recommends you check your Wi-Fi network and then asks you to restore your settings to Factory settings.

But, I would suggest you leave your Roomba for a while and come back after 10 minutes and it will be reset.

4. Too many devices are connected to same WiFi network

Eufy Robot vacuums need a strong internet connection which is required to operate different functionalities. If there are too many devices on your router, its bandwidth is distributed among all devices or there may be some high bandwidth consumption like 4K Videos or Live streaming which may lower the signal strength and ultimately it causes unstable or poor Internet connection for your RoboVac.

Make sure that there are not too many devices being attached at the same time or you may increase your bandwidth to streamline the process.

6. Check your Internet Router

  • Make sure that you have an active internet connection. Internet may be improper or disconnected due to many reasons.
  • You may not have an active Internet subscription and it has been outdated which you can renew and then try connecting your device with the router.
  • Your router needs to be reset.
  • Sometimes, there are unknown reasons causing connection problems which are corrected by just restarting or resetting your router.

7. Check your Roomba Firmware

There are many issues that arise only due to outdated firmware. Make sure that you update your Roomba’s RoboVac timely as the update is released by the company. Because wi-fi not connecting may be due to outdated firmware. Please follow the steps mentioned below in order to update the firmware.

First of all, make sure that RoboVac is on charging and that there is an active internet connection.

  • Open the iRobot Home app and go to your relative RoboVac model.
  • Click on the 3 dots appearing on the upper side of the screen.
  • You will see “Firmware Update.”
  • Click on it.

8. Use a Genuine Battery

A genuine battery runs for a long time and gives a premium performance to the device. If you are using a fake or non-trusted battery,

It may impair its working performance and wi-fi connection issue which may stop the sensors realize whether there is any error forcing the device to say, ‘Wi-Fi connection disconnects.’

Don’t ever buy any cheap products/accessories to use with your original and expensive branded products. They will always harm your device and you cannot get smooth performance consistently for a long time.

Always use genuine parts, batteries, and other accessories recommended by Roomba. Because local or fake batteries may work for you for a while but the Roomba will soon stop detecting non-original batteries and it will not work.

9. Clean Roomba Apartment Completely

If you have not opened your Roomba device for a long time, you just need to clean the whole device completely. Basically, dust and dirt particles stick in there for a long time and they impair and block its working which doesn’t allow the functions of Roomba to be fully performed and network issue arises due to similar reasons.

Take a vacuum cleaner and go through all the surface area below the back cover thoroughly. You should clean the sensors and flip sensors in your Roomba properly to wipe out the dust all around.

Make sure that you place the wheel back after fixing it in the first step when you are done cleaning Roomba.

10. Get Roomba Home Base Close To Wi-Fi Router

Your Roomba is not connecting to Wi-Fi due to improper internet connection due to the large distance which has prevented the connection signals arrive at your Roomba device.

Bring your Roomba device close to your Wi-Fi router which will allow the connection to not break and will also improve the signal strength.
