Did you know?

An interesting thing to note about TCL Roku TVs is that they feature a built-in troubleshooting tool called “TV Diagnostics” which allows users to quickly and easily identify and fix common issues. This tool can be found under the TV’s settings menu and can help users troubleshoot and fix issues such as a black screen, connectivity problems, and more.

Additionally, TCL Roku TVs are equipped with a built-in power cycling feature which can help troubleshoot issues that may be caused by the TV’s software. It’s also worth noting that some apps may cause the black screen problem, in that case uninstalling and reinstalling the app can help to fix the issue.

Check the power Source

Sometimes, you keep on the power button from your remote but your TV shows a black screen only. The reason could be that your TCL Roku TV hasn’t been turned on. You can verify this by checking the power indicator on your TV.

You must check the power outlet and ensure that it is delivering power to the source at adequate voltage. If the power outlet is faulty, change it before it may damage your TV. In most cases, TCL TV causes flickering due to bad power.

Check If Power cord is plugged in correctly

Locate the power cord on the back of the TV and check that it is securely plugged into the power port on the TV.

Now, Check that the other end of the power cord is plugged firmly into a working electrical outlet.

Because sometimes cord is faulty or it becomes loose which doesn’t make the connection intact and you may see a flickering screen on your TV.

So, either change your cord or fix the ends of the cord and reconnect both ends with the TV and socket.

If the TV still doesn’t turn on, check to see if the outlet has a switch and make sure it is turned on.

Check HDMI Cable Connection

HDMI input cables become faulty over time. That’s why you observe a black screen with no sound on your TV. You can perform a few steps to verify whether the issue is with your HDMI cable connection.

Make sure the TV and the device you are connecting (such as a cable box or gaming console) are both turned on and set to the correct input. Your TV has various HDMI inputs, so make sure that the correct HDMI input is being used.

  • Check that the HDMI cable is securely connected to both the TV and the device you are connecting.
  • Try using a different HDMI cable to see if the problem is with the cable itself.
  • Try connecting the device to a different HDMI port on the TV to see if the problem is with the port.
  • Try connecting the device to a different TV to see if the problem is with the device itself.
  • HDMI error also causes TV keep turning off.

Updating the firmware on a TCL TV is a simple process that can be done through the TV’s menu. Here are the general steps you can follow to update the firmware on your TCL TV:

  • First, Turn on your TCL TV and press the “Menu” button on your remote control.
  • Navigate to the “Settings” menu and select “System.” or Choose Device Preference> About.
  • Select “Software Update” or “Firmware Update.”Your TV will check for available updates.
  • If an update is found, select “Download” to start the update process.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update process.
  • Once the update is complete, your TV will automatically reboot.
  • It’s important to note that the exact process may vary depending on your specific TCL TV model and the version of the firmware. If you are unable to find the firmware update option, you can also check the TCL website for instructions specific to your TV model.
  • It’s also recommended to have your TV connected to the internet and have enough storage on your TV to complete the update.

Tweak Fast Start Option

  • Press Home on your Remote control Button.
  • Now, go to “Settings”
  • Find System here and click on Power
  • Enable Fast TV Start.
  • It basically keeps a stable network connection after TVs are powered off and allows for the connection of smart home devices.

We had observed many users resolving their issues by only reversing the option in case of a Black screen on their TCL TVs. If you have enabled this option, I would recommend you disable it.

  • It’s important to note that some TV models may not have the option of fast start, so the process may vary depending on your specific TCL TV model.
  • Also, turning off the fast start option will increase the time for the TV to start up, but it will reduce power consumption.

Issue with TCL TV backlight

When you turn on your TV, see a power indicator on your TV, and sound is also coming through your TV. But, there is no video on your screen. This issue is generally called Backlight consisting of LED lights.

I recommend you check the following points before moving forward.

  • Check the brightness and contrast settings on your TV. Make sure that the brightness and contrast are set to a comfortable level for viewing.
  • Check the ambient light in the room where the TV is located. If the room is too bright, it can affect the TV’s backlight. Try adjusting the lighting in the room or closing the curtains to reduce the amount of light coming in.
  • Check the backlight settings on your TV. Some TCL TV models have a backlight setting that can be adjusted. Look for this setting in the TV’s menu and adjust it as needed.
  • Check the power saver mode on your TV. Some TCL TV models have a power saver mode that can affect the backlight. Look for this setting in the TV’s menu and turn it off if it is on.

Now, bring a flashlight close to your TV screen and see if there are controls and text visible to you. You can also use your remote control to change the settings and witness moving prompts and settings. If you see text on your screen, this issue is with LED lights of TV and it is not a big issue. You can implement one of the two steps below.

  1. Exchange In-warranty TV
  2. Replacing TCL LED Backlight Strips

Chose a new TCL TV if your TV is under warranty. TCL will replace free of cost and you don’t even have to pay a technician fee as well.

  • Disconnect the LED backlight strips from the TV’s circuit board. This will typically involve unplugging connectors or removing screws that hold the strips in place.
